Women's Wellness Weekend

on the Schoodic Peninsula

Acadia National Park

Acadia National Park, Maine

September 14-16, 2018

Physical fitness, yoga and music in a secluded setting on the rocky coast of Maine…can it get much better than that? Ellie of Venture Outside and Jen of Wander Free Wellness are pleased to offer this unique and special holistic and restorative wellness retreat experience for women at the perfect location for recharging your body, mind, and spirit September 14-16, 2018!

Where are we headed?

The Schoodic Peninsula is the “quiet” corner of Acadia National Park, known for its pounding surf, incredible sunsets, and soft spruce-fir cloaked landscape. With miles of hiking and mountain bike trails, a rugged shoreline of both quiet coves and rugged headlands, and miles of quiet paved park road, the Schoodic peninsula in Acadia N.P. provides the perfect setting for this retreat.  In partnership with Schoodic Institute at Acadia National Park, this retreat is held entirely within the park, and based from the Institute’s beautiful campus.

What will we do?

We invite you to reconnect to the power of your body by focusing on your physical fitness and well-being. We’ll choose from two activities and bike, hike, and paddle over this two day weekend retreat. We balance physical activity with just the right amount of reflection during and between outdoor excursions. In addition to the outdoor nature-based activities, you’ll practice yoga daily to balance body and spirit, and be treated to restorative and entertaining music performances and chanting.

Restore and recharge

Explore and immerse yourself in the uninterrupted landscape of green forest, blue ocean, bold shoreline, and big sky. Find healing and inspiration by connecting with nature through simple meditations and interpretive “nature stops.” There will be quiet time for reflection, as well as time to connect with other like-minded women.

About the venue

We will stay in Schoodic Institute's comfortable apartments! Schoodic Institute is not open to the public and is in an unimaginably beautiful setting! Schoodic Institute will provide all the delicious, homemade breakfasts, lunches and dinners for the weekend's retreat.

Who are your guides?

Yoga Retreat

Jen Wyatt, Yoga and Mindfulness Instructor

Jen has been practicing yoga for over 10 years and teaches with a lighthearted and playful style that is accessible to everyone. Her classes have a strong emphasis on mindfulness and alignment, while encouraging curiosity, kindness, self-compassion, and listening to one’s own body. She believes that yoga can be a very powerful form of self-discovery, and that it offers lessons for how to cope and thrive through all of life’s ups and downs. Jen is passionate about combining her love for yoga with travel, nature, and adventure. She grew up in rural New Hampshire, and then spent 14 years in Boston (at college, working for an international travel company, and teaching in Boston Public Schools). She now works full-time teaching yoga and wellness classes, workshops, and retreats through Wander Free Wellness. In her spare time, Jen loves experimenting with healthy cooking, reading and learning as much as possible, seeking new experiences, seeing live music, and creating art.

Ellie Osborn, Maine Guide and Musician

Ellie lived on a sailboat as a kid and did two Atlantic crossings. Because of this upbringing, she is “at home in the world” and loves languages. She speaks Spanish and French and is learning Mandarin. She is a licensed Maine Guide, a geologist, a teacher of 20 years, a multi-instrumentalist, an athlete, a coach, a hoolahooper, a juggler, an environmental advocate and a mother. After teaching science for 12 years, she founded her own music education business, www.LittleMusicMaker.org. She competes in Nordic skiing, 1/2 marathons, and triathlons and holds the bronze medal for the Mountain Biking World Cup. Her favorite jobs were as a teacher naturalist for Audubon and working for Outward Bound, helping to develop and pilot their renowned Expeditionary Learning curriculum.
