Honoring grief truly makes space for us to live a happier life.

While it may seem paradoxical, some part of you probably feels this truth.

We know that unprocessed grief festers and destroys us from the inside out. We know it manifests as pain and illness — whether as emotional pain and mental illness or physical pain and chronic illnesses and diseases.

This is not “woo woo” or pseudoscience. Emotions chronically held in the body, without release, are stress energy with nowhere to go. It will start to wreak havoc on your system.

We also know trying not to feel grief closes our heart in pain, thus closing us to all emotions, and we become less open to life.

We can experience pleasure and joy to the degree that we are willing to experience our sorrow and our pain.

It takes great bravery to turn toward the depth of our sorrow. Some avoid it at all costs.

But the reward…

The reward is a life that contains more peace.

For when we can learn to be with whatever arises, we create space for our authentic truth to be set free.
